Mother’s Mother

graphite on paper 14″x11″, digital watercolor-2003/2009

I came out from L.A. to hang around with Grandma during her last year, at age 94.

She was comfortable staying at her home which Granddaddy had built and she told me a lot of stories she thought I needed to know. Her mind was very sharp and her humor was good but her body was giving out.

When she got too sick she moved into the hospital and she stopped talking. I got bored listening to myself talk and I just drew.
